SERIES OF ACTIVITIES BETWEEN NORWEGIAN UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (NTNU) AND HANOI UNIVERSITY OF CIVIL ENGINEERING (NUCE)

Under the consent and assistance of the University, on December 15 and 16, 2022, the Faculty of International Education and Training of NUCE welcomes the delegation including Prof. Yiliu Liu and 19 year-five undergraduates from NTNU to visit and work at the university.

The opening session was the NESS project (shortened for Norway-ASEAN Consortium in Risk Management for Safer and Sustainable Ocean), The Norwegian-Southeast Asian forum, on risk management towards a safe and sustainable ocean development was introduced in the opening session. Prof. Yiliu Liu is the Project Manager of NESS. The main purpose of the project is to strengthen the cooperation network between experts and researchers from Southeast Asian countries, in which NUCE is the representative of Vietnam, with leading universities of Norway. The cooperative activities are short-term visits and working sessions in Norway, the two sides' experts jointly researching and publishing scientific articles, and attending regular seminars in one of nations attending the project. The countries participating in the project include Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines and Norway.

Attending the project introduction meeting were Assoc.Prof.Dr. Hoang Tung – Vice Rector of the NUCE; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Viet Phuong - Head of Science and Technology Department; MSc. Nghiem Ha Tan - Deputy Head of International Cooperation Department; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Ta Quynh Hoa - Dean of the Faculty of International Studies and representatives of the Faculty of Marine Engineering, Faculty of Water Engineering. The project will last until 2025, promising to create conditions for many NUCE’s staff to have the opportunity to conduct research in Norway and increase the number of scientific publications in the upcoming time.

An exchange session between Norwegian students and students of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering is organized on the afternoon of December 16, 2022 afterwards. At the meeting, students of both universities presents scientific research reports, share about Norwegian and Vietnamese cultures, and, last but not least, students divided into groups and build models from rods and wires. The exchange meeting took place quite excitingly. Both parties gain many experiences in research skills and learn about each other side.  Such exchanges will help students of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering more confident to blend and integrate into  global market.
